so I bought this dress like a hundred years ago. I bought it at at store called United Colors of Benetton. I wasn't even sure if they were still around until I googled them and saw that they were. just not here in Michigan anymore. anyway, I held on to this dress because I loved it even though it didn't fit me anymore. but now it fits again. but it's white. you can see through it. I always had to wear a layer underneath it. I mean, why wear a sundress if you had to add another layer. so I decided to change the color. I thought I'd give a try at tie dying.
so I took rubber bands and twisted them along the length of the dress.
I bought this dye in navy. I mixed it according to the directions.
and let it soak for about 30 minutes giving it a stir occasionally
rinsed it in cool water until the water ran clear
then the most exciting part,I clipped the rubber bands and then washed and dried the dress
and voila! I love how it turned out.
In other news, a storm came through here during the evening. we needed the rain, but seriously, did we need it all at once. anyway, this is when our sump pump decided to die. our basement flooded. again. we didn't even notice it until the storm was over. luckily I've learned to put all my important stuff in plastic bins but there are stuff that have accumulated down there that weren't protected. thank goodness nothing important but it's still a pain to deal with it.
