We took another trip up north to look at cottages. We looked at six places on this trip. The first one was in Clare and the rest were in Gladwin.

I really liked the outside

but the inside was way too victorian for my taste. every room was wallpapered. and dark purple carpet. I know those things can be changed so I kept an open mind

until we went outside. I didn't like that the yard was fenced in but that could be changed too.

but what couldn't be changed was the fact that the highway was just a few houses over and the lake in this area was very weedy. this was the only home that we looked at in Clare but the realtor gave us a list of a few other homes in the area that looked very promising so it looks like we'll be making another trip to Clare soon to check those out.

this was a really nice house. still a little small but Bill really liked it. it had one bedroom on the main floor and a bedroom up in the loft along with a sitting room for a sofa bed or a futon.

this house is fairly new. in fact there were still a few things in the house that weren't quite finished. loved the paint colors the homeowners used.

what I didn't like was that there was no landscaping done. a lot of work ahead. Bill doesn't think it would be a big deal to do but then again he's a procrastinator. so I can totally see that we would still be without any landscaping for years ahead.

this house is actually on a little cove that is part of a much bigger lake.

this is the property across the lake from the home we were looking at. the water was so calm that day.

I think I liked this house the best of all the ones we saw on this trip. The inside was totally redone.

I think it needs a deck in the back. maybe wrap it around so it meets up with the one on the side.

we didn't get to see the inside of this house because the lock box wasn't working. after looking around the property we decided it wasn't worth the extra effort it would have been to get inside.

this house was a little run down and needed a lot of work to get it looking good. I love the idea of a sun porch but this was not exactly what I had in mind.

now this was the nicest property of all the places we looked at but the house was a manufactured home and not what we were looking for.

I'm really trying to keep an open mind on this whole thing. I would much rather spend the time and money on doing home improvements to this house. Bill is looking at it as an investment and thinks that in five years, if we were so inclined, we could turn it around and sell it for a profit.
